Did you know that you can control your emotional state?

We humans are emotional creatures. We can feel a wide spectrum of emotions from love, joy and passion all the way down anger, guilt and frustration.

But what we were not taught as we were growing up is that we actually have a lot of control over these emotions, and we can learn to master them.

Over the past couple years I have been studying countless ways to learn how to master my own emotional state. These include things like breathwork, meditation, positive music, and moving my body.

And what I’ve found is that my life significantly improved once I became conscious of these tools and practices to help me control my emotions.

I’ve also found that mastering your emotions is a CRITICAL skill to have as an entrepreneur. You need to be able to weather your own emotional storm in order to handle all the ups and downs of owning your own business.

There are three main tools that help us control our emotions (thank you Tony Robbins for teaching these to me).

1) Our Physiology — How we move our Body

If you look at someone that is sad, what do they look like? Are they hunched over? Do they have their head down?

How about someone that is super happy and excited? Are their shoulders back and their head up high?

Well the opposite is true too. If you consciously change the way you move your body, you can change your emotional state to be happier and more joyful.

2) Our Focus — What we put our focus on

What we focus on is one of the most critical factors in your own emotional state. Are you focused on all the bad things happening in your life? Or are you focused on all the good things that are happening?

Are you focused on your upcoming vacation or being excited about your friend’s new adventure?

Are you focused on the virus we are currently dealing with? Or are you focused on creating something new in your life so that you can create a more empowering future for yourself.

Your focus is so important in maintaining your emotional state, so keep an eye on your thoughts!

3) Our Language — How we speak to ourselves

What kind of language are you using when you talk to yourself? Are you telling yourself that you are amazing and that you can do anything?

Or are you telling yourself that you can’t succeed and you aren’t worthy of having what you want?

There was a really great question that was posed at Mindvalley University last year which was “Is the voice in your head a friend of yours?”

You wouldn’t speak down to your friend right? You would lift them up and make them feel empowered. So why do we speak down to ourselves?

Make the voice in your head a friend of yours, because I can promise you. That is the only voice that you will be with you every second of every day for the rest of your life.

If you want to dive deeper on these topics, I’m offering another FREE Virtual Mastermind on Monday night at 8 PM EDT. Sign up with the link in the comments below!
